The word yoga means "union" in Sanskrit - the language of ancient India, where yoga originated. Its an old Indian philosophy of metaphysical beliefs, with a goal of striking a balance between mind and body to attain self-enlightenment.
The goals of yoga are varied and range from improving health to achieving Moksha, which is liberation from all worldly suffering. However, in the West, the term "yoga" is typically associated with Hatha Yoga and its asanas (postures) or as a form of exercise. The three main focuses of Hatha yoga are exercise, breathing, and meditation.
At Liberty House, we provide private yoga lessons through a visiting tutor or you can take class room training at our associate organizations.
